Privacy notice
Last updated 17 October 2026
Draft — pending review. This text is a working draft for the La Famiglia free trial in the UK. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it is final.
This notice explains how La Famiglia uses personal data when your household uses the La Famiglia Board during the free trial in the United Kingdom. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Layish Sieger, who runs La Famiglia. You can reach us about anything in this notice at hello@getlafamiglia.com.
What we hold
- Parent accounts: the email address each parent signs in with, and a record of their sign-ins.
- Household members: the names, colours and photos you or your assistant add for each member. Children have no accounts and no email addresses.
- Your household’s Board: the agenda, tasks, ticks, points, rewards and any short audio notes your assistant adds, plus the household’s name, address on the site and time zone.
- Waitlist: if you join the waitlist, your email address, the family name if you give it (sign-ups before 18 October 2026 may also hold the household size we asked for then), where you joined from (the home page, the demo or the sign-in page) and when you joined and confirmed.
- Visit counts: daily totals of visits to the home page, the waitlist page and the demo, and of waitlist sign-ups. They are just numbers: no cookie, no IP address, nothing that identifies you or your device.
- Device sign-in: a cookie that keeps a Board device or a parent signed in. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.
- Technical logs: our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and protect the service.
Why we use it
We use this data only to run your household’s Board and to let the assistant you connect read and update it. Our lawful basis is the contract with you to provide the service, and our legitimate interest in keeping it secure. We do not sell your data, show ads or use your family’s content to train AI models.
We use a waitlist address only to confirm it is yours, to tell you what happens next and to invite your family when there is a place. Our lawful basis for that is your consent: you confirm it from the first email, and every email has a link to remove yourself. We send no newsletters or marketing.
A parent adds children’s details on the family’s behalf. Please only add what your family is happy to show on the Board.
Who processes it for us
- Vercel hosts the site and stores member photos and audio.
- Upstash stores the Board’s data in its database.
- Resend sends parent sign-in, invite and waitlist emails.
- Open-Meteo provides the weather. It receives a location only, never names or account details.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on UK-approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
The AI assistant you connect (for example Grok, Gemini, ChatGPT or Claude) is run by its own provider under that provider’s terms and privacy policy. It only sees your Board because you connected it, and you can disconnect it at any time.
How long we keep it
- Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes, invite links after 7 days.
- A parent’s sign-in lasts up to 30 days before they sign in again.
- A waitlist entry you don’t confirm is deleted after 30 days. A confirmed one is kept until we invite you or you remove yourself with the link in our emails.
- Daily visit counts are deleted after about 13 months.
- Day-to-day Board records, such as past days’ ticks, expire automatically.
- Everything else is kept while your household uses La Famiglia, and deleted when you ask us to close the household.
Deleting your data and your rights
Email hello@getlafamiglia.com from a parent’s address to ask for a copy of your household’s data, to correct it, or to delete the household and everything in it. We will reply within one month.
You also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data. If you are unhappy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We will update this notice as La Famiglia grows, and tell parents by email about any important change.
